Introducing TSG Labs
Every major technology shift asks a question of the people and companies living through it: will you wait for the future to arrive fully formed, built somewhere else, shaped by someone else’s assumptions, and adapted later to your reality? Or will you build early enough to help define what that future becomes?
At TSG Labs, we believe Africa should help define what comes next.
The last decade of African technology was shaped by infrastructure. Businesses came online, digital payments became more trusted, developers built on more reliable tools, and consumers became more comfortable transacting digitally. Entire categories became possible because the underlying rails became stronger.
Paystack was part of that shift. It began with a simple goal: to help businesses in Africa get paid. Over time, that work became part of a larger lesson: when infrastructure improves, ambition expands. Businesses don’t just process more payments, they hire, grow, cross borders, serve new customers, and imagine themselves at a different scale.
But African ambition has always been bigger than payments. And the companies emerging from the continent are not only building for Africa, they’re building products, infrastructure, and businesses that can matter globally.
The Stack Group (TSG) exists because the next decade requires a broader canvas: payments, banking, consumer finance, and emerging technology working together to help companies and consumers participate more fully in the digital and global economy.
TSG Labs is the part of that mission focused on what comes next.
What TSG Labs is built to do
TSG Labs turns emerging technologies into products, infrastructure, and businesses that meaningfully improve how Africa works, and that can be useful anywhere in the world.
Our first set of products and experiments will focus on AI and stablecoins because we believe they represent one of the most important technology shifts of the next decade. AI will change how businesses operate, how software is built, how people interact with products, and how work gets done. Stablecoins will change how money moves, especially across borders, and create new possibilities for businesses and consumers participating in the global economy.
Our starting point is Africa because this is where our deepest context, infrastructure, and operating knowledge come from. But we do not believe products built from Africa should be limited to Africa.
Our ambition is not simply to build African versions of global products. It is to build global products from Africa.
That means TSG Labs is not here to admire emerging technologies from a distance. We are here to build with them.
How we’ll work
TSG Labs will work in two ways.
First, as an incubator for new product ideas that can mature inside Labs and graduate into Paystack or another company in The Stack Group when they’re ready. Second, as a venture studio for ideas that should become standalone companies, with their own brands, teams, and business models.
In both cases, the goal is the same: to move from emerging technology to real-world usefulness as quickly and thoughtfully as possible.
We’ll prototype, test, learn, and share what’s useful. Some of what we build will start as small experiments. Some may become new products. Some may become infrastructure. Some may become entirely new companies.
What matters is that the work expands what African businesses and consumers can do, while building products strong enough to serve the world.
We’ll use this space to share what we’re learning, what we’re building, and what we’re launching.
There is a lot to build, and we’re just getting started.
